Summary
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, the Assistant Controller will have oversight and responsibility for the monthly financial close and financial reporting, internal controls, annual audit, GAAP research and compliance, and transactions processing improvements.
In this role, you will
- Lead the annual audit and be the working liaison with the external audit firm.
- Oversee the preparation of timely and accurate financial statements and account reconciliations, maintain accounting records, maintain multiple charts of accounts, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Research GAAP topics and prepare / review technical accounting whitepapers.
- Design, implement, and monitor internal controls, processes and procedures to safeguard assets, ensure compliance, and promote operational efficiency.
- Lead mergers and acquisitions due diligence projects and purchase accounting.
- Lead the Accounting team through complex systems implementations from defining requirements through go-live and post-implementation support.
- Develop and mentor a high-performance team, fostering a culture of collaboration and accountability.
- Establish and continuously improve business processes and technology to drive scalability and efficiency.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting exercises.
What you bring to RNDC
- Experience: Minimum of fifteen (15) years as an accounting professional, including at least five (5) years at the controller or assistant controller level leading large teams of degreed professionals; “Big 4” or second-tier national public accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP is required, including experience with leases, mergers & acquisitions (including purchase accounting), asset impairments, and technical GAAP research; preferred experience includes restructuring, revenue recognition, inventory, pensions, equity, and financial instruments (e.g., derivatives).
- Systems Proficiency: Advanced (“super-user”) Excel skills required; proficiency in at least one major financial system (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and financial reporting tools (e.g., Essbase, OneStream, TM1, Hyperion, Power BI) is required.
- Analytical & Reasoning Skills: Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills with the ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Demonstrated experience managing high-performing teams and working cross-functionally; ability to work independently and collaboratively with a strong team mindset.
